PROGRAMS

Dedicated to Improving Lives in Walworth County

Our primary goal is to provide healthy food for our guests, but, through help and support of our volunteers and donors, we're able to do so much more.

We are always looking for opportunities to give hope.

Food

We are a “choice pantry,” meaning that for some items we give our guests a shopping experience where they can choose foods that they like.  Our partnership with Feeding America and the Hunger Task Force allow us to purchase food at pennies on the dollar, including fresh produce, dairy products, and frozen meats, in addition to non-perishable foods.

Our goal is to be able to provide 10-14 days worth of groceries for our guests.  No food pantry is designed to be the sole source of food for their guests, but we hope that our services can go a long way, and give our clients some relief, allowing their finances to stretch and cover other essential bills.

We are currently providing food for about 500 families each month.  40% of the people in those households are children.

Diapers

We are a member of The National Diaper Bank Network, serving families in need up to two times monthly.  Disposable diapers are not a luxury, they are a necessity.  Many times a parent can't drop their child off at day care to go to work because they don't have enough diapers to meet the requirements.

In addition to diapers for infants and toddlers, we also offer incontinence supplies for adults.

Diapers are sourced from local organizations holding diaper drives throughout the year and are also purchased at a discount through the National Diaper Bank Network sponsors, Huggies, Medline and Cuties.

Period Supplies

1 in 5 low income women report missing school, work, or similar events due to lack of access to period supplies.  As a member of the National Alliance for Period Supplies, we are able to purchase feminine hygiene products at a discounted price.

Period supplies are a necessary part of life and present one more expense for those in poverty. While our funding is limited, we provide tampons or pads as often as we can for our guests.  We are grateful to organizations who help make these items available, especially the
Geneva Lakes Women's Association.

Senior Support

Thanks to Hunger Task Force, we are able to offer qualified seniors over 60 years of age an additional box of food and cheese each month, called a Stockbox.

A Stockbox is a free box of healthy food for people age 60+ whose income qualifies (click
HERE for income qualificatons). All Stockboxes include cereal, milk, canned veggies and fruits, pasta or rice, protein, fruit juice, canned meats and 2 pounds of fresh Wisconsin cheese.

Along with the Stock Box, the Walworth County Food & Diaper Bank provides a SAM bag (Senior Assistance Mission). This bag is filled with a variety of personal care items.
